Minnesota Tamil Sangam (MNTS) proudly presents a breathtaking display of Tamil art forms at Minneapolis St. Paul Airport, Terminal 2, spanning an impressive 120 feet in length and reaching a towering height of 20 feet!
Step into a world where tradition meets creativity in a celebration of Tamil culture like never before!
Minnesota Tamil Sangam has truly set a remarkable example when it comes to preserving and promoting Tamil art forms. MNTS being in the forefront for learning all Tamil traditional authentic art forms (dance and musical instruments) over a decade now. The main theme of 2017 FeTNA convention hosted by MNTS was “தமிழர் கலையைப் போற்றிடுவோம்!, தமிழர் மரபை மீட்டெடுப்போம்!!”. Our motto is to sustain the indigenous Tamil art forms and musical instruments. This will help us to pass on these to our next generations and also propagate it to US residents. We are grateful for the ongoing support from the “Minnesota State Arts Board”, which has consistently awarded annual grants since 2016, even during the challenging years of the pandemic. As part of the efforts over the last 12 years, MNTS has been performing in various venues like city events, festival of nations and large gatherings like Minnesota State Fair, the great Minnesota get together.
Tamil arts were formally captured by eminent photographer Rj Kern over the last 2 years for Hennepin Arts. The Heart of Minneapolis downtown had a large 40×30 feet portrait displayed for a year from Aug 2023 to Aug 2024.
Now the biggest recognition of all, Minneapolis St. Paul Airport, Terminal 2 has unveiled 120 feet long 20 feet height display of all Tamil art forms on Aug 29, 2024. This is first of its kind and never happened in the past in the world, not even in Indian airports, which will be there for a minimum of one year.
The initiative taken by the Minnesota Tamil Sangam to display traditional Tamil art forms in the MSP terminal 2 airport is truly exclusive and commendable. By showcasing these unique and vibrant Tamil art forms, we are not only celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Tamil community but also providing travelers with a wonderful opportunity to experience and appreciate a different culture. This display serves as a visual feast for the eyes and a gateway to understanding the beauty and diversity of Tamil arts, heritage and culture. It is a great way to promote cultural exchange, foster appreciation for art, and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the esteemed board members whose unwavering dedication, tireless efforts, and boundless passion have been instrumental in bringing to fruition the showcase of traditional Tamil art forms at the airport. Our heartfelt thanks also go out to the enthusiastic Tamil arts participants who persistently engage in learning and practicing these rich cultural expressions.

Under the guidance of masters Marimuthu and Nagaraj, our expert students, Shankar and Saravanan will be conducting training sessions on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8pm at PIM Arts High School from January 31st to April 30th. We have been celebrating January as Tamil Language and Heritage month from 2020, now the Minnesota state assembly has passed a permanent resolution to celebrate January. We all should be very proud of this, and celebrate every January with this pride. Our heartfelt thanks to Senator John Hoffman for making this senate resolution possible and his continued support to MN Tamil community. We thank Senator Eric Pratt & Senator Heather Gustafson for their support in introducing this and Senator Kari Dziedzic (Chair, Senate Committee on Rules and Administration) & Tom Bottern (Secretary of the Senate) for recording this!

நாம் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் தமிழ் மொழி மற்றும் மரபு திங்களை பிரகடனப்படுத்த, வருடம் ஒரு முறை ஆளுநரிடமிருந்து 2020 முதல் ஒப்புதல் பெற்று அதை கொண்டாடி வந்தோம். இனி வருடா வருடம் நாம் சனவரி மாதத்தை தமிழ் மொழி மற்றும் மரபு திங்களாக நிரந்தரமாக கொண்டாட மினசோட்டா மாநில மேல்சபை, சனவரி மாதத்தை ‘தமிழ்மொழி மரபுத் திங்கள்’ என்று அங்கீகரிக்கும் தீர்மானத்தை நிறைவேற்றி இருக்கிறது.
இதற்கு வித்திட்ட செனடர் திரு ஜான் ஹாப்மன் அவர்களுக்கு நமது நெஞ்சார்ந்த நன்றிகள். இந்த தீர்மானத்தை அறிமுகப்படுத்த துனைநின்ற செனடர் ஹெதர் குஸ்தாஃப்சன் மற்றும் செனடர் எரிக் பிராட், இந்த வரலாற்று தீர்மானத்தின் பதிவிற்கு உதவிய மேல்சபைச் செயலாளர் திரு டாம் பார்டர்ன் மற்றும் சட்ட விதிகளின் நிர்வாகக் குழுத் தலைவர் செனடர் காரி ஜெட்செக் என அனைவருக்கும் நமது நன்றிகள்.

Our 8th Annual Open Chess competition (Nov 19, 2023) was conducted successfully.
We had total of 69 participants attended the competition.
Our sincere thanks to Wayzata High School chess club director James Titus who graciously agreed to be the judge for this event and conducted the competition seamlessly.
We also thank Wayzata High School Students Bama Binu and Surya Subramaniam for their dedicated volunteer effort helping our judge.
Thank you very much for all participants, who participated with much enthusiasm and taken this chess competition in a sportive way. Thanks for all the parents for your support.
